He Made It!!

So Monday 12.21.09 was our family Christmas party so allll my family was there. And his dad played Santa so Matts mom and brothers came also to ‘watch their dad play Santa’. Matt told me I was going to be getting a present from Santa, he wanted the kids to have a cool experience showing that Santa travels around the world and everything! Santa shows, some kids cry, some are way excited! Its good times all around. Matt’s youngest brother showed up late and grabbed my laptop out of my room.. totally true to travis and kept telling me he was on facebook and forced to be there. Lol so the kids all get done and then it’s my turn and Santa tells this spill about traveling everywhere and that he talked to someone very special in Japan who sent a present back with him for me, but I can’t open it yet. So im thinking of course like for the kiddies, I cant open til Christmas.. then his mom comes over with my life-size cardboard cutout of matt that has envelopes on it that say read this one first. Then Travis sits right next to me with my computer and Matt has been on video chat the entire time.. that’s when it hit me I’m getting a ring. Then I have to read aloud this beautiful poem that matt wrote me while our song is playing in the background. So I get through the four envelopes and the last one is like Lindy I love you so much and want to show you for the rest of my life.. straight up, will you marry me? And below in parentheses its said, remember if you say yes you get free health insurance and get to travel the world with me. Hehehe So I said yes and it was amazing! Come to find out my entire family knew it was going to happen!! He called everyone of my siblings to ask for my hand after talking to the daddy. Lol Here is the proposal on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGYizWdllJw

"Button, Button, Who has the Button? "

Button, Button, Who has the Button was the game played with my family the night I was proposed to by my husband. This game is an "old fashion" game where there is a single button. Each person holds their hands out in front of them, palms together. One person starts out with the button in their hands. That person goes around the circle sliding their hands through those of the other players. When the person has chosen which player they would like to receive the button, they most carefully open their hands slightly, allowing the button to fall into the hands of the new chosen player. The player that started continues around the circle until each player has had the chance to receive the button. Once the button has been placed into the hands of a new player you say, "Button, Button, Who has the Button?" Then each person takes a turn guessing who has the button in their hands. Once the button is found the games starts over with the person who had received the button. Well that night my husband had set the whole night up so that my little sister had said she wanted to play this game. So my family all gathered together in the living room. I had noticed that my husband was clammy and yawning a lot but thought nothing of it. My sister started the game. She had a button in her hands and around the circle she went. She gave it to my other sister who gave it to my husband. My husband started and went around the circle. As he approach me he dropped the button on the floor and switched out the button in his hand for the ring which was hidden in his sock. He then continued with the game sliding his hands through mine and dropping the ring into my hands. I (being oblivious to what was happening before my eyes) continued to play the games as though I didn't get the button while my husband continued around the circle. As I held the button...ring in my hand, I had no clue that it was a ring because the diamond was resting in the crease between two of my fingers. I was unable to feel that it was a ring. My Husband remained there "on one knee" until I realized what was in my hands. He then asked me to marry him and well I said yes! We were later married on February 27th 2004 in the Salt Lake Temple. That game yet so simple has a special place in my heart and to this day I still have the original Button.
